Human Mimeograph

...and then I was having such a good sketching that I decided to draw a picture for my brother, who is having shoulder surgery this week.
My brother, with elf ears. They actually look more like demon ears. That's what you get when you shave off your hair, I guess...
(For comparison, the sketch is based on this photo:
This is why they call me the Human Mimeograph.)
My creative endeavors are very hard on my friends and family. "Oh hey!" I'll cry, "I've got this brilliant story idea where you turn into a turtle and nearly get eaten by the Devil! With illustrations!"
Unfortunate friend: O.O
"And by I have this idea I mean it's already written and illustrated. Want to read it?"
I have a WHOLE SERIES of these. They are TOTALLY BRILLIANT. You can tell, because my friends have not banded together to remove all computers, pens, pencils, and paper from my custody.

Date: 2009-12-02 04:22 pm (UTC)The first one I wrote is posted in rough draft here (http://osprey-archer.livejournal.com/49182.html) - I'm actually the main character in that one, so as a bonus you can see what happens when I transmute myself into a literary character; but a lot of my friends appear as secondary players.
I haven't posted the others because I'm hoping to get some of them published & I've heard posting things on LJ messes up the copyright, and also no one commented on the first one - I think because it's so long.
I've always liked that icon, and I did wonder if it was your drawing. Do you usually just sketch randomly, or do you illustrate your stories?

Date: 2009-12-02 04:33 pm (UTC)And thanks for the link to your draft of a story; next break from work I take, I'll go read.
You're absolutely right about copyright--so yeah, best to hold off on posting stuff that you want to publish.
I doodle characters from my stories, but I don't actually illustrate them (it's one thing to draw faces and another to try to get all the characters looking right together in a scene.) Do you have a Deviant Art account? I do, though I don't post there much. This userpic is Tilia, from a story I wrote that hasn't yet found a home.
