Behold! The cover of Tramps and Vagabonds, by the incomparable ZJ Timekeeper!

Riding the rails during the Great Depression, two young tramps team up to take on the world... and fall in love. Carnivals, hurt/comfort, cuddling for warmth: this book has it all.

I was hoping to get it out by the first Monday in May but I think the time pressure will result in a hasty copy-edit, so I'm aiming for May 9 instead. Of course this lowers the likelihood of another thousand dollar month, but once you hit a thousand dollar month once it is not so important to hit it again... What is important is sales over time.

I was worried when you showed the mock-up cover on Twitter because it didn't seem old-timey enough, but this is *excellent* Love the moment, love the lights, love the feel.

Haha, that cover on twitter was my "I can't order a proof copy without SOME kind of cover, so let's see if Amazon cover creator has an image vaguely related to the book!" cover. I included it in the tweet because I think people notice tweets more when there is an image attached.

This is so pretty!!! A lovely and evocative scene to put to cover, for sure! I'm curious--was it solely the artist's decision, or was it at your suggestion?

This was my suggestion. Originally the cover was going to involve train tracks but the composition looked so static that I thought we'd better change direction, and a Ferris wheel glowing against the night seemed like an eye-catching way to go.
