I couldn’t resist today’s [community profile] snowflake_challenge: In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know?

This isn’t exactly one of my fandoms, but the person who pops to mind right now is Diana Wynne Jones. I’d like to have a tea party with her, preferably with a number of other interested guests, so at the psychological moment we could all pin her with our beady little eyes and demand, “So what’s UP with the ending of Fire and Hemlock, DWJ?” Surely under the pressure of our many eyes, she would have to spill.

Although possibly we might just learn that she didn't know either. Still, that at least would be something.

She did know! I read an essay about it online and she had commented on it to say that, yes, that was basically it. I don't think I bookmarked it, but it does make sense it's own weird time. It just takes a few re-reads.

BUt she would be a good person to see. I'm still regretful that I missed the chance to see her when she was attending the YLG conference because of my turn being post-poned to the next year. (For reasons, but she died not too long after, and so it was not possible.)

There was a lot of T. S. Eliot, I seem to remember. But it only took me 9 re-reads or so. (Do people not want to re-read F&H 9 times to work it out??)

And nooo, now I'm regretful with you for your missed chance to meet DWJ.

Yeah. It was just one of those things, but I do feel a bit wistful over it even now. I would have loved to hear her speak, even briefly.
