First, just an FYI: I’ve set Briarley free through Saturday, so if you want it (or you’d like the now-with-fewer-typos version, I def. reread it recently and marked all the typos and fixed them while wailing quietly about how did I miss so many typos?), now is the time.

***

I’m also chugging forward with The Threefold Tie. Copyedits done! Paperback formatting done! Now I just need to make sad cow eyes at my cover designer until the cover is completed and also polish the book description. See below!

***

Everything was fine till Jack fell in love with his former lover’s wife.

Shy Civil War veteran Jack never expected to be involved in any love affairs. It seemed like a minor miracle when he and his comrade-in-arms Everett became lovers - and a painful return to reality when Everett married Sophie. And the situation has only grown more complicated now that Jack has fallen in love with Sophie as well as Everett.

When Everett fell in love with Sophie, he knew that the only proper thing to do was to marry her and end his dalliance with Jack. But even though all the novels and Valentine cards say it’s impossible to be in love with two people at once, Everett has never really gotten over Jack.

Sophie’s unconventional family has shown her that love is not always as simple as the Valentine cards suggest. But she’s still startled to find herself responding to Jack’s very obvious crush - and to realize that Everett, too, still has feelings for Jack. Can they come up with an arrangement that satisfies everyone?

Obviously the answer is yes. They will resolve their problems with strawberry shortcake, lots of talking, and a threesome.

I feel that maybe it should be a little shorter, but I'm not sure what to cut, except possibly the last paragraph, which is probably unnecessary. (Everyone already knows the answer is yes! And also I feel the rest of the description has made it amply clear that The Dicks Have Touched and Will Touch Again.)

Typos breed! It's the only explanation; like, I edited this story six times and got 2 people to beta it and there is still a typo in the first paragraph!

Good luck with all the writing, anyway. And Briarly is a very kind offer. I bought it a while back, but perhaps I should get a typo-free version? XD

The title does somewhat answer the penultimate paragraph's question.

Maybe the final question should be "How will they navigate the complex labyrinth of nineteenth century romantic conventions to find a satisfying arrangement that works for them?"

That is legitimate suspense! Go for it (or variant thereof).

Oh, I like that!

If I may add another two cents' worth: a satisfying arrangement would, by definition, work for them, no? So I think you could lose the last four words of that question/enticement.

I loved Briarley and you've made it free at a particularly good time: a good friend is struggling with the isolation of social distancing and could use all the cheer she can get. I was pretty thrilled to be able to point her to it as a freebie, since she hasn't got a lot of $.

My smile just can't get any bigger as I read this blurb. It's gonna be AWESOME.

Did you say something to me about a first chapter?

I remember that! I do remember commenting.... Maybe I'm thinking of the first chapter of Sleeping Beauty. Or maybe I'm in some kind of time slip....
