Oh Facebook, how I loathe it; all my friends have gone back to college and now I not only have to know that they're having fun, I am forced to ponder the photographic evidence of said amusement.

You could just look away, you say; and of course I could; but I have three more weeks before I leave and many empty hours to fill.

I love this season of the year - the weather, the cicadas, the fact that the temperature is right for both ice cream and hot chocolate; but this yearly college exodus is draining.

However! Today I walked over to my old elementary school to chat with my fifth grade teacher, and mentioned that I am now a Fully Accredited Tutor, just in case she needs help grading or anything. We'll see if anything comes of that.

We also discussed the novel I wrote when I was sixteen, which was the Worst Novel Ever (it was a teen novel. I hated and still hate teen novels, and was applying "write what you know" in exactly the wrong way) and I stumbled on a brilliant idea: why not try writing another novel? A children's novel, using the same setting and most of the same characters, except younger and a little more fleshed out? I've already got acres of backstory (even a map if I can find it!) and I actually like children's books, and read a lot of them, and remember being eleven well and with fondness.

Which is odd, given that eleven was the year I had almost no friends. But (and this is what the professionals never tell you about being out of touch with your feelings) I wasn't aware that I minded.

But anyway! If you need me I will be Plotting. I think there should be buried treasure involved.

In my experience, professionals very rarely acknowledge that they mind that sort of thing. It makes them more aloof and professional if they don't have friends.

Hmmm. Does this mean I may have a future as a professional? (A professional what doesn't matter. The point is, a Professional.)

You could probably pull Professional off very well.

...I suddenly just flashed back to that time we were talking about your future career.

"We need to make the call."
"But Mr. President, we have it under control, the situation is manageable."
"Damnit, this is a matter of life and death! I'm going to make the call!"
(cut to doors opening and Jen walking through, wearing professional clothing, carrying a leather briefcase. She calmly sets the briefcase on the desk and looks up) "Mr. President, I'm glad you called me when you did."

:D

Heeheehee. I remember! How did we come up with that? I think Alex had something to do with it.
