I didn’t throw myself a party this year (I went all out for my thirtieth last year and it was wonderful - we had five desserts - but thirty-one just doesn’t have the same oomph), but I’ve had a few smaller celebrations with my friends as I've captured them, including a brunch where we shared an amazing cinnamon roll, still warm and soft from the oven, dripping with cream cheese icing.
That was also the day that we went to Black Dog Books (a bookstore staffed by an actual black dog, and also a human) and I found a copy of The Egg Tree to send to a friend so her young son will not grow up bereft of that great Easter classic. A good day!
