Because of my women film directors project, I didn’t watch much TV in 2018, but now 2019 is here and I’ve decided it’s time to try to knock some shows off my to-watch list, either by watching them or deciding definitively that I’m not going to watch them.

So I turn to you, dear internet, for guidance.

Is it possible to watch just season one of Dark Angel (which multiple people have told me they loved), or does it end on a terrible cliffhanger and I’ll feel compelled to go on to season 2 even though everyone tells me it’s terrible?

Why did I never watch the last three seasons of Scrubs? By last three I mean 6, 7, and 8. Season 9 was a figment that never happened. Generally speaking I don’t like it when TV shows change out a large proportion of their cast. That’s one of the reasons I gave Community seasons 5 & 6 a miss, but now I’m thinking maybe I should give them a try. Are they worth watching?

What about season 5 of Arrested Development? Season 2 of Twin Peaks?

I might need to rewatch season one of Twin Peaks first. Also, I’m not convinced I would make it through Twin Peaks without a Twin Peaks buddy. Also, if I watch the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, do I need to watch the latest revival season too?

Maybe I should just give Twin Peaks a miss for now. There are too many variables up in the air.

I stopped watching Community on a regular basis before Season 5, so can't offer much of my own opinion, but during his winter break my 18-year old son rewatched the whole series. He volunteered his opinion that he wished he'd skipped watching Seasons 5 and 6. He's a completist so felt compelled, but thought they were not only worse in quality, but also left a bad taste in his mouth.

My husband and I were big Twin Peaks fans when it aired and watched the entire original series through the end of S2. I don't want to give any spoilers but I will say that when we rewatched the show with our kids, we felt there was a very good stopping point in S2 that felt satisfying to us all. I haven't watched the revival but I think my 21-year old son has -- at least he meant to, but he hasn't mentioned it so I suspect it didn't measure up. He was a big fan of the original series.

My kids are more thoughtful and perceptive about TV shows and movies than I am, so when our genre tastes overlap I give their opinions considerable weight.

It's been a while since I rewatched Dark Angel, but I think you could probably stop with season 1. Part of the problem with season 2 was that it was sort of hugely disconnected, I think (which may have had something to do with fucked-up behind the scenes stuff with Michael Weatherly being awful).
