I’ve never actually read Twilight (teen romance and vampires are two of my least favorite things) but this parody is beyond hilarious.

Edward removed his shoes and rolled up the cuffs of his jeans, and I gasped at the sight of his white, smooth ankles. Sunlight reflected off his toenails, each an ivory glint of perfection.

This just made my week.

Also: I’m fond of male a cappella groups. There’s an episode in the West Wing where the Whiffenpoofs come to the White House, and Donna and CJ and most of the female staff go to gawp. I would be so there.

(Side note: how the heck did the Whiffenpoofs get their name?)

Anyway. This video is of an a cappella group from Northwestern, the Klein Four, singing a mathematical love song: Finite Simple Group (of Order Two). Wow. Just wow.

Love my Yale a capella groups! Yalies are crazy about a capella. :-)

Off to look at that parody...

Aah! Thank you so much for that link! It's hilarious! I luvs it! :-D

I kind of accidentally read Twilight. I saw it and New Moon in B&N a couple years back and loved the covers. (I will sometimes buy a book based on the cover. Sometimes a very bad idea, as evidenced here.) So I bought New Moon and liked it, decided to see about that other book by the same author. Oh, the horrors! All the flaws I saw in New Moon were magnified x1000, in addition to the million other hate-worthy elements. I had to abandon this series.

I'm extremely wary of vampire romances now. Barring Sunshine. ;-)

I don't think Sunshine actually counts as a vampire romance. It would need way more "We're both soooo pretty but he's sooooo evil! And vampiric! But cute! Woe!"

But yeah, I spent a long time considering buying Twilight on the basis of the awesome cover. (I actually did buy Crown Duel on the basis of the awesome cover, but that worked out better than Twilight would have, clearly.)

Yeah, you're right; it's not quite a romance, though there is some ST between the two main characters. (Man, does that book need a sequel!)

The artist who did the Twilight series covers is such a genius. The look is so visually arresting, you can't help picking up the books--even if you decide not to buy them. I wouldn't be surprised if half the sales started with people's being drawn to the covers.

He looked frustrated, annoyed, euphoric, scared, nervous, grumpy, amused, sleepy, and sad. Like an archangel come down from heaven to bless me with his presence.

I followed the link and laughed so hard that I started tearing up. I have seen people here and there on LJ talking about this series, and I was wondering what all the hype was about. Thankfully, this wise person has given me the low-down, and I will give those books a miss. After her brilliant parody, even the prospect of reading them to mock seems kind of pale in comparison. --Imo

Oh, I know. Having had the pure distilled essence, I don't think I could deal with the sub-par experience of actual Twilight. Which is probably just as well.
