Dorothea and my roommate Veni and I went to see Prince Caspian this afternoon. I need to reread the book, if only to see where and when the two converge.

Because, as Dorothea said: Caspian and Susan are NOT CANON. The mere fact that they’re both gorgeous is not good enough reason to pair them off. And that scene where he saves her from the Telmarine soldiers that she totally had under control? Susan! Is! NOT! A damsel in distress! She kills people by throwing arrows at them, dammit!

I think that's impossible--I also think the awesome red battle skirt she wears is totally impractical--but they both made me smile, so I will let them pass.

But Prince Caspian, when you try to pull off the “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father…” thing, you need to be prepared to follow through. And if you aren’t, take responsibility for the fact that the following defeat was TOTALLY YOUR FAULT.

I love the Telmarines. I love their accents, I love the conquistador helmets (I love the fact that the Narnian stronghold looked kind of like the ruins of an Aztec temple), I love the fact that they built a Roman-style bridge across the river. Also, I love the high council. Yay high council politics! Yay the scene where the high council and Edmund drag Miraz into a totally stupid duel! (Yay Edmund, while I'm at it.) And Telmarine treachery FOR THE WIN.

I also loved that they got theirs in the end, because they totally deserved it, but it’s always nice when the bad guys don’t act like they’re part of a hive mind and actually appear competent enough to be evil.

Yeah, it the me-at-ten crush was the book character, but the older-me-crush definitely encompasses the movie Peter. He also happens to look exactly like the incredibly hot teller at the bank I used to go to for work. Me? Not twelve. Well, mentally maybe.
