The LJ news post actually linked this site about Russian LJ, which led me to this far cooler site about Russia in general, but I figure most people don't read news posts and if they do their initial reaction on seeing the word "Russia" is not OMG! MUST READ! (Seriously. Pavlovian conditioning. My Russian professor would be so proud), so I am sharing.
If, for some strange reason, you don't immediately want to drop everything and poke around, here are a few links I thought deeply amusing:
HEY AMERICA, seems you’re riding a wave of patriotic bliss this week. Well, Russia sees your patriotism and raises you the most patriotic movie trailer ever.
The article includes a link to the movie trailer, and a translation of it, and I must say it is a totally awesome trailer. It may or may not have any artistic merit, but I actually understood the occasional word (because I had read the translation first and the narrator was talking all slow and pretentious, shut up, you are ruining my moment) which totally trumps anything like that.
The trailer for a Russian rip-off of High School Musical.
An article about Russian lolcats. Linked to the Russian lolcats page itself. Sadly, I do not know enough Russian to translate, but that's definitely my new goal in Russian class.
And now for something (almost) completely different:
Hetalia fanfic, Russia/China. (For those of you unfamiliar with Hetalia: the main characters are anthropomorphized countries. Just run with it.) In which Russia demonstrates his complete failure to understand the concepts of personal space and bad touch all over China. Also, history geekery.
...I hope I haven't induced a Russian overdose in anyone.

Date: 2009-02-28 10:42 pm (UTC)Is it a bad thing that this fact makes me want to write Hetalia fic? I mean, there's all of history to play with. It could be so awesome and twisty and dark.
