30 Days of Fandom Meme: Day 19
Aug. 29th, 2015 08:10 am19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
It depends. Sometimes if the idea is overwhelmingly strong, I will sit down and write it right away; the story where Cottia turns into a fox stands out in my mind as something that I wrote very quickly because the idea burned so brightly. Or the fic where Esca has wings, or the longer Lost Prince fic that I wrote, where the Rat betrays Marco but it’s all part of a plan, which Marco could have guessed if he could think his way out of a paper bag, poor dear.
But if I’m not writing the story right away, I don’t write down the idea. Sometimes for longer fics I’ll do brief chapter notes (“Marco visits Rat in dungeon”) or a timeline to keep myself on track, but I don’t do extensive outlines or anything.
I try not to sit on the ideas for too long, anyway. The stories are stronger if they’re written when my interest in the fandom is still hot.
