Lately I've been wondering what happens if the post office loses a DVD on the way back to Netflix.

A little poking around the site shows that they have procedures in place for this sort of thing, but what I'm really curious about is what happens if there's a whole string of lost DVDs. At what point does Netflix conclude that little Jin is clearly keeping her favorites and blaming the post office for her larcenous ways?

I hasten to add, I'm wondering not because Netflix has unleashed my latent kleptomania, but because I'm going back to school in six weeks and I suspect those bright red Netflix envelopes will be like catnip for college students. They won't be able to resist filching.

I do have a friend at school who complained about losing DVDs after she'd put them in the drop box at the front desk, so this isn't totally crazy.

The late DVD that brought on this musing probably isn't actually lost (although if Netflix doesn't get it tomorrow I'll be worried), but I'm glad to have added yet another item to my List of Things to Fret About (Subheading: Paranoid).

Hopefully, this deep thought will tide you all over until I return from Iowa.

If you have acess to a nearby post office branch...rent a post office box. it is not as convenient, but more secure.

hmmm....yeah, there is a limit on how many you can report missing, but I wouldn't worry overly much about it. If you do, you can always drop it in a public mailbox, as the above person suggested.
