I woke up early this morning, stepped out my door, and promptly got dive-bombed by a shrieking swallow. It swooped - I stepped - it swooped again - I twisted my head, to see this screaming thing - but it swooped again, just beyond my vision - and then I saw it, and shrieked, and it fluttered but to its birdhouse, well pleased with its morning's work.

I've stumbled into The Birds. Curse you, Hitchcock!

I am currently being hassled by a birdy couple. Again! They set their nest right next to my skychair--where I sit in the afternoons and read!--and wouldn't go near it if I was out there. I felt bad for the babies, so I sacrificed skychair time until they fledged. Now they've laid a second clutch!!! I was out there yesterday, and the cheeky thing kept fluttering from tree to porch, looking at me as if to say, "You can leave any time now. Thanks."

This is how they repay your generosity? *shakes head* Give 'em an inch, they take a skychair...

And then they poop all over it!

Oh swallows! They are such beautiful showoffs.

It was just showing off? I feel better now. I rather thought it was attempting to kill me.
