Yes! Like all the pre-Code movies, which I have learned about from my flist, not really from any film books (and I've read a bunch). Clueless (1995) is one of the first "girly" movies (lol) I remember getting a lot of respect -- and it was an adaptation of Emma, too. 10 Things I Hate About You, Heathers, Ginger Snaps....
