I think this is the Austen that really shines after some rereads (altho most people might give that dubious honour to Mansfield Park, lol). I had to read it twice for school and still really disliked it, and saw the movie and read it again and still disliked it IIRC, and then reread it much later as part of an Austen readthrough and maybe it was the distance or me getting older but I appreciated it a lot more. I was such a Bronte girl (still AM, obviously) that it really kind of hurt seeing Marianne getting so battered around! At least in the movie she gets Alan Rickman.
