PRO Jo/Laurie, ANTI Meg/John, gosh (I mean making John priggish is gilding the lily really, he's already relatively uninteresting). Gabriel Byrne is an inspired casting decision at least and the anecdote above about loving Little Women is lovely. Now that you say this is the first movie with the book burning, I think a lot of my key memories of Little Women must have been shaped by this adaptation.
