Getting hold of the books - well, LibGen probably has everything, if you go there. Some of them are still available in print, at least in the UK, our local library has a bunch of recent reprints (which are lightly edited for the modern reader, to their significant improvement, and also have explanatory footnotes about historical stuff that modern kids might not know, like what the Cold War was...) and others are cheaply available secondhand in the UK at least, ebay has loads. Biggles Looks Back you'd have to pirate unless you have access to a major library, it took me six months to find a paper copy that was only £30 but I love it so much I wanted a paper copy of my own.

And the WW1 ones actually are good research for the period! A lot of the things that happen or get mentioned in Biggles come up in the proper histories of WW1 aviation I've read, especially in some of the smaller details like flying in your pyjamas or the written authorisation you need to carry balloon-strafing bullets in case you get shot down and the Germans consider your special incendiary bullets to be ungentlemanly.
