I didn't expect him to get his hand back, but I did spend a lot of my first read of this book puzzled over whether his hand was GONE gone. Did she cut it off COMPLETELY or was it just, like, dangling?? Or something??? Which honestly is a terrible visual and I'm not sure how I got stuck on it, except that the idea that she had just CUT his HAND off was so horrifying that I literally could not process it.
Yeah, that SCENE, though. And the part that precedes it, where Gen realizes that the gods betrayed him? It wasn't bad luck, it wasn't Attolia's spy-catching skills, Moira just straight-up told Attolia how to catch him. What a gut punch.
