I love that one of your methods of book discovery is seeing what characters in books read--that's great. And your description of the wandering nature of bedtime stories really made me laugh. Cartoon adventure shows do that too: for Nancy and Plum, substitute in Josy and the Pussycats or Johnny Quest (two from my childhood).
