Winter Lights prompts

Every once in a while I come across a set of prompts that just calls to me, and this one does exactly that.



At first I was thinking “a magical pine” for Angela, Piper’s older sister in The Time-Traveling Popcorn Ball, as I’ve always thought she deserved a magical adventure of her own. But upon reflection I don’t think a vignette would do that idea justice, and although it is tempting to turn the entire set of prompts into a book-length magical adventure for Angela, the idea just doesn’t seem to be catching fire… so, alas, probably not.

Does anyone have a specific character or canon they’d like to see for any of these prompts?

Aww, these are lovely prompts! I kind of want to have a go at writing some of them for FotH, although it's unlikely I'll have time in December amidst Yuletide writing. In any case, thanks for sharing them.

Dare I attempt Little House fanfic? I might be smote down for hubris.

Definitely dare! It's the prerogative of fic writers, to boldly go where absolutely no one has said they will go.

Laura/Almanzo/Nellie but raise the level of difficulty so it starts with Laura/Nellie in a marriage of convenience for *handwave* reasons and Almanzo is intimate friend to BOTH.

OMG, Laura & Nellie are the married couple and ALMANZO is the intimate friend!!! Oh... oh... I will absolutely not write that but the sheer audacity of the conception is stunning.

Could a merely magical pine ever compete with the glory of the Christmas tree where Laura gets her fur cape and muff, though?

I don't know if you have any desire to write Briarley-related vignettes, but that was my first thought! Alternately, it seems made for American Girls...

There is a strong Briarley vibe to some of these, isn't there! The parson and the dragon could sit before a cozy hearth during a peaceful snowfall, drinking mulled wine and exchanging whispered stories.
