Yes, I think the fact that Charlotte dies a natural death absolutely helps. She doesn't get bitten by a rabid coyote while heroically protecting Wilbur and then have to be put down as a direct result of her heroism; her time is just up, and she goes, and the narrative presents it quietly and without undo pathos.
