The Larks Still Bravely Singing cover

I realized that if I release The Larks Still Bravely Singing on October 4, the day that I move, I will be MUCH too busy moving to check my Amazon stats obsessively, so it's been all hands on deck to get through the final edit of the proof copy. The edits are done! Now I just need to input them into the actual book file, and then I can upload everything and set the preorder and call it DONE.

I've been waffling about how to price it. It's a full length novel (63,000 words), so I want it to be more than my novellas, which are $2.99... but it is a lot shorter than Honeytrap (110,000 words), so I thought perhaps I shouldn't sell it for the same amount ($4.99)... however, upon reflection I think it's simpler just to have two price points, novella at $2.99 and novel at $4.99. And there's certainly a lot of snuggle for your buck in this one. This book was my pandemic project and it is extremely self-indulgent.

I am ALL in favor of pricing it higher. Snuggle is worth a great deal, and I'm not sure the difference between $3.99 and $4.99 will matter to a reader who wants to read what you write, but a few of those add up for the writer who wants to eat.

It's true, snuggle IS a very valuable commodity. A lower price might attract more readers, but maybe/probably not enough more readers to make up for the fact that a lower price also has a lower royalty amount.

Really, I should do it for House. House needs the money. House deserves only the best.

This made me laugh out loud. IT'S LIKE SISYPHUS EXCEPT ACTUALLY A DIFFERENT ASSIGNMENT EACH TIME, AND FUN? AND THE BOOKS ARE REACHING AN EVER WIDER AUDIENCE WHICH MEANS MY ART IS BEING APPRECIATED.
