I was walking in the woods yesterday in the early morning, and it was dark and gray out, but there were lots and lots of oak leaves on the ground, and the ones that were lying there, underside up, were shining white, loaded with raindrops like diamonds. I said to my son, "If we were walking here at night, we'd see the path extra clearly because of the leaves"--just exactly the way you did.
Your walk sounds magical--and this poem is beautiful, especially the last line of the middle verse, and the last line of the last verse.
