There have been times when I've really fought to force a story to hold something it just didn't have room for, and usually it ends with me, the nominal author, battered and defeated, whispering "All right, story, you win" as I cut out whatever it was - often an elaborate side character back story that would have highlighted a really cool historical fact that I just wanted to share with everyone, if only, alas, including it didn't pull the whole story off kilter.
And I've had the opposite experience as well, where there was a scene that I knew had to go in, even though it didn't seem to fit anywhere. The setting is incomplete without this particular jewel, even if I have to rearrange every other damn jewel in the piece to fit it in.
I haven't listened to the album yet (except littlerhymes sent me a link to the music video for "Willow," featuring a reappearance of Narnia piano from "Cardigan"), but I'm so excited for this album. Blessings be upon Swift for being there for us all in the year of our lord 2020.
