I have a cold! It is extremely woeful!

On the other hand, I also have a supplier of marzipan-covered cakes. So life is not all drear.

Do people in the UK carve jack-o'-lanterns?

I think very recently there are more people getting into it, but traditionally, no, no one does.

Lovely cake!

The American Jack O' Lanterns are indeed a new thing. Scots will make turnip lanterns, and go "guising" which is where you do a party piece for your sweets and so on. (http://www.siliconglen.com/Scotland/12_19.html)

I think guising sounds delightful - it always seemed too easy that American children just need to knock on the door to get a treat. (Mind, a shy child would probably find guising just horrid, so perhaps it's not quite such a wonderful idea after all.)

Also, I bet guising would cut down the number of high schoolers/college students willing to attempt to trick-or-treat. It would just be too embarrassing for them.

O.o oh wow. That is possibly the cutest halloween related thing I've seen in a long time. Aww! :3

I KNOW. It was actually kind of difficult to eat, because I didn't want to mar the cuteness.
