The ambiguity is very much the point! Which I guess could be a barrier to enjoyment for someone who doesn't like ambiguity in their movies. But it's well-done, thought-provoking ambiguity, rather than "the filmmakers are hoping we'll think they're deep when actually they just couldn't be arsed to be clear" ambiguity.
