Sep. 13th, 2009 09:27 pmTHE LIBRARY. HAS PICTURE BOOKS. IN RUSSIAN!!!!!!
(Also French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and possibly two or three other things I didn't notice. Oh! There was Latin! But I do not even pretend to speak any of those, so I left them alone.)
Also, the library its annual sale today, and I picked up five books for $2.25. It was pretty awesome.

Otherwise things here are silent. Everyone is gone back to school, and one can only presume they are incapable of responding to letters. And email. And IM. And even goddamn Facebook.
Sometimes, I feel like I'm writing these things into an abyss.

Date: 2009-09-14 02:20 am (UTC)There were picture books in Latin? Are these books in the YA section or just books written in other languages that happen to have pictures? Because I kind of dig the idea of kids' books in a dead language.

Date: 2009-09-15 02:31 pm (UTC)One question: How can a picture book be in a language? o-:) (hm, if you tilt you head one way that looks like an angel with a halo, but if you tilt your head the other way it looks like a very surprised guy with a unibrow...)

Date: 2009-09-15 09:14 pm (UTC)They actually had a really nice collection of Chinese children's books, which made me sad about the fact that you were halfway around the world. I don't think the Appleton library has any Chinese children's books. :(
I'm going to Barcelona on the 26th, and on to London on Oct. 4. I'm arriving a day before orientation starts, which is nice, because there are a bunch of things in London I want to see (I don't think I'll get to them all, but I can always ride the train back down). And then I'm going to York on, I think, the 10th.
I'm going to send you a postcard - to your home address, though. So you'll get it at Christmas, I think?
I completely understand about not remembering; I ask friends over and over what they're majoring in or where they're going on vacation or even who they're dating and they're like, "Don't you ever listen?", and I DO, it's just that there's no room left in my brain. And I don't even have a good excuse like studying Chinese. :(
