I feel like it will be hard to answer the paranoid question until after the pandemic is over, anyway. If at that point someone continues to wear a mask whenever they go out in public and still can't bear to eat in restaurants, maybe the pandemic has made them paranoid about disease.
The basement backup cupboards are not that secret, I just don't usually go poking around the basement cupboards so I had not realized before then that we had a lifetime supply of pudding down there.
