But really I just want you to read Henry Miller (so I don't have to) because I recently learned that my grandmother briefly had a basement lodger who was not only a friend of Henry Miller's but also thought he was an avatar of Christ and wrote an essay titled "Henry Miller: Superman and Prophet."
It is honestly a little uplifting to realize that the Greatest Generation was probably about as tired and depressed as we all are.
