I did read the Malory Towers books as a child, and I adored them so much! They were so magical to me, and I remember telling my parents that I absolutely didn't want to go to boarding school because it wouldn't be Malory Towers and would therefore be a huge disappointment. The Famous Five was also a childhood favourite of mine that I, as you put it, joyfully obsessed over. They're now all comfort reads of mine.
