Bonbon Cookies
Jul. 23rd, 2009 06:38 pmMy friends and I decided to go on an Expedition today, and as such required cookies. Therefore, I spent the morning on a baking spree.
Bonbon cookies are basically shortbread (made with powdered sugar rather than granulated so they're melt-in-your-mouth soft) wrapped around some sort of filling and dipped in glaze.

Because I'm anal retentive, the glazes are color coded to the fillings: orange for peanut butter and chocolate, red for pecans and chocolate, white for dates, and cocoa-dusted for pure chocolate. Any dried fruit or nut would work, or fresh cherries; I think bonbon cookies with cranberry and chocolate filling would be excellent. Or peanut butter, if it wasn't too soft...
Delicious, super easy to make and capable of a million variations. This is my idea of a perfect cookie recipe.
