Why is Elsa trying to cross the sea?

How cute is her business-like ponytail?

I don't know what happened to Anna's hair but I love it. Also there's a bit where it looks like she's trapped all alone in the darkness which ???? !!!!! But then the part where she leaps from the point of a rock over an abyss!!!!

(I love how both she and Elsa get pants in this movie.)

It kind of looks like the villain is autumn???

Yes! Does Elsa need to cross the ocean to rescue Anna from... whatever has trapped her in the darkness? Except I'm not sure there's quite enough urgency about the crossing-the-ocean scenes for that: she really wants to get this right, but it doesn't feel like she needs to get it right RIGHT NOW.

I KNOW. As someone else on my flist said, it looks like everyone has taken lessons in badass. The teaser, at any rate, looks very epic.

Yes! I'm not sure how Anna's new hairstyle with the loose hair and the little braid holding it back translates to badass, but it totally does.

Even in that brief teaser, I liked how it shows Elsa learning and failing and trying again with her cross-the-ocean mission.

Maybe not autumn as a villain but maybe someone who puts things into autumn the way Elsa put things into winter? (But that's probably too easy a guess.) Now I'm thinking about someone who wants it always to stay spring or summer... it would be very hard to make a vista covered in blossoms or leafy and green seem distressing, but a land in which no crops ever ripened would be as bad as one in which nothing ever sprouted.

This is putting me in mind of "Always winter, and never Christmas!" Except instead it would be something like "always summer, and never harvest!"

Actually, some things do ripen in summer - but you wouldn't want to live on tomatoes and raspberries forever.

Ooh, this is much more appealing than I thought it would be!

...although I'm not sure why I wasn't expecting it to be super-appealing. (It's as if I'd filed Frozen under "things that only appeal to small children" -- even though I've been driving around listening to the soundtrack in my car for the last month.) I love Anna's hair, too, and the sword-swinging bit. And Elsa trying, failing and trying again. I'm hoping for more of Elsa and Anna working together as a team.

Yes, I *loved* how much space they gave to Elsa's ocean-crossing attempts. It builds up so much suspense - both about "will she get across?" and "but why does she need to get across?"

It looks like maybe they start the movie separate, but I'm hoping they meet up early on to face the danger together (and it seems Kristoff and Sven will be there too). It's going to be so epic.

I have high hopes for this one. I would have had high hopes even if the trailer was kind of meh, but as it is - VERY HIGH HOPES.
