I first saw Winona Ryder in The Crucible, which put me off her for years, somewhat unfairly; it wasn't her fault that I didn't like the way The Crucible handles the Salem witch trials in general or the relationship between John Proctor and Abigail Williams in particular. She's a dependent servant in his house, and it's her fault they slept together?
Also the real Abigail Williams was about ten, and obviously she got aged up for the play/film, but still.
