I have written another installment of Troy and Vane's Awkward Adventures, which I have now posted over on AO3 because this has clearly become A Thing. Please enjoy Troy's Christmas at Duke's Denver!
Ahhh, I love it! Troy's observations of the Wimseys, and of Duke's Denver, feel so true to everyone's characters (especially hers). I particularly liked the Dowager's comments about the king's speeches, and the way Troy bookends her letter with references to dragons.
The Dowager Duchess makes everything better. Her bits are perhaps my favorite part of Busman's Honeymoon, although clearly I was also very struck by the part where Harriet meets a ghost.
I don't think there's anything in the books suggesting that Troy went through an Arthurian phase in her youth, but it does seem to fit with her character. She probably has some very early paintings that show a distinct pre-Raphaelite influence, and she keeps those hidden away somewhere but nonetheless can't quite get rid of them yet.

[edit] TROY SHOULD TOTALLY PAINT THE DOWAGER DUCHESS.
