A couple of photos! On Thanksgiving, my dad and I drove over to the new buffalo reserve to see the buffalo... only the buffalo did not want to be seen. They couldn't be seen from any angle at the buffalo viewing area; they also couldn't be seen as we drove around the reserve. Finally, we saw another car stopped, and we also pulled up there and stood on the running board...

Hiding out in the long dead grass. It's taller than they are! "You wouldn't think an animal that weighs a ton could hide like that," my dad mused, but they can.

My roommate and I have been planning an herb garden for next spring. She's already got basil and rosemary (well, we'll need to replant next spring, but she's got places for them), and I wanted to add thyme - "And we could do parsley and sage too, and call it a Scarborough Fair garden," I joked.

I don't know that they would make it through the winter indoors in that itty-bitty basket - I sort of expect they'd live long enough for Christmas stuffing and then die off - but oh, it was hard not to buy it. All we'd need is the thyme!

That is an amazing amount of successful hiding from an animal that size.

Good luck with the herb garden! I suspect in that little basket the more robust rosemary and the sage would fight it out and the parsley would be an early war casualty, but you never know.

The grass is really quite tall, but it still surprised me that it was so very tall that it could hide a buffalo.

I will probably resist the little herb basket, although I am very tempted. Fresh herbs in the heart of winter!

Yeah, that is amazing how well they blend in!

They are so Big.

That's great you're going to have a herb garden--they're wonderful and do-able in a small space.

I've been bouncing around going FRESH HERBS. FRESH HERBS AT ALL TIMES.

I'm actually not sure what I'll do with most of them, but once I have them I daresay I'll figure something out.

I'm not used to seeing buffalo in grass like that - cool!

The grass makes it hard to get a good picture, but I think it gives a more accurate view of how buffalo generally live, so to speak.

I imagine so! I am just used to only seeing them in the ND scrubland. Way less grass. It's cool to see grass so high it obscures them!
