Hello osprey_archer--I'm back from holiday and not exactly plunging into LJ (supposed to have my head down), but at least wanted to say hi, and this entry of yours is on a topic I think about a lot. There are a lot of qualities we value, intelligence being one, but what's crazy is to go from that to actively persecuting people without (or without much of) the quality. People should be treated with respect and kindness and care just as an axiom, not on some conditional basis ("You've hit 20 units of intelligence--congratulations! Now we'll treat you as human"<--sub in "beauty" or "charisma" or whatever for intelligence; same difference.)
