I am returned from my trip! I had good times with many friends and ate lots of cake (in fact I have only included a picture of only one of the cakes, so as not to overwhelm you with cake envy) and took lots of beautiful pictures.

Here's one of me,

And here

That one was lemon and blueberry; there was also an almond ricotta cake and a hazelnut orange cake, which last I did not get to try because I had already tried the s'mores bars, the creme brulee cheesecake, and drunk four glasses of wine and three bottles of beer, except I didn't get to finish the last one because I left the table to go dancing and the waiters absconded with the bottle, WOE. Fortunately at that level of intoxication I was a completely fabulous dancer, so the WOE did not last long.

The next morning, Caitlin and I went on an expedition! And we found this

...with Le Chat Noir on the side! Isn't that adorable? It's only a few blocks from Caitlin's house; next time I visit her, I should drag her over there and check out the books inside. I suppose I could have done it this time, but we wanted to get to Nashville before the traffic got bad.

We had a delightful time in Nashville! (This is the weird little artists' colony in southern Indiana, not Nasvhille Tennessee.) I stocked up on socks and bought some charming cards, and we also found

And we ate lunch at a restaurant that offered a bourbon bacon brownie as a dessert. What could we do? Of course we had to try it. And of course it was delicious, although in fact I think the bacon is mostly a gimmick and the true flavor workhouse was the salted caramel drizzle on top, which was AMAZING.

That bourbon bacon brownie sounds awesome.

Does the cake have some real flowers on it? It looks like it does. Real flowers on cakes are *wonderful*

Were there any interesting books in the Little Library?

You look stunning in that photo!

It did have real flowers on it! So did one of the other cakes, in fact; they didn't really have a wedding cake, but a whole dessert buffet, which I thought was a perfect compromise between tradition and individuality. The whole wedding was wonderfully elegant that way.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to check the Little Library's book selection; I hopped out of the car to take the photo, so I had to get back in before anyone else drove up. But next time, I'll see! I should take a book along to donate in case anything in the library catches my eye.

All weddings should have three cakes! It is decreed.

I have two more weddings to go to this year, so that dress is going to get a workout. Probably I'll leave the hat off in the future, though; I was the only one at the whole ceremony with a hat.
