I don't think I would have appreciated Betsy's boy-mania when I was younger, but now I kind of love it. You go after what you want, Betsy!
I think Proust should count even if it stopped intimidating you partway through; probably the point of the category is to get you started on a book you might not otherwise read. And how many books are intimidating all the way through, anyway? You might have to find something very dense and scientific if you want that much intimidation.
