New phone

Guess who has a new phone? Yes, that's right! ME! I have joined the world of the smartphone! I have become a member of the selfie generation! I would totally put my selfie here for you all to admire, only I have no idea how to do it!

I've figured out how to make the phone a) talk, b) text, and c) take photos, and I figure that's enough for one night. Oh, and I've been exploring the emoji possibilities. I'm not sure why I would need a carousel horse emoji, but I am nonetheless pleased to know that it's there.

Haha, same! I was like, I'M FINALLY GONNA SNAPCHAT! And then I downloaded the app & haven't done anything with it the whole time I've had it.

I have been contemplating the Instagram app, but I suspect it would be the same story with that. Presumably I can figure out how to upload photos to Facebook without it?

Woo-hoo! You are ahead of me in the world of technology, for my phone is still simple and ridiculous. One day, I shall upgrade ... but haven't yet!

I would have kept my old phone forever, but after eight years of hard service (and getting dropped a lot), it really couldn't do anything but text message anymore. Poor thing. I should probably arrange to take it to recycling.

So many cute emojis! I can't imagine when I would use most of them, but I guess maybe sometimes I'll just be like, "It's frog emoji time!"

I only ever see emojis on my computer, when people post them on Twitter, and my OS is so old that often instead of the emoji, I just see an empty box--but sometimes the emoji does come through. So sometimes I'll see some excited tweet, and then an emoji of clapping hands, an empty box, another empty box, an emoji of confetti and a party had, and then another box. I always wonder what I'm missing. Probably carousel horses!

On my old phone, people would send me emojis and it would just be a blank bar of darkness. So frustrating!
