To facilitate things for anyone who expressed an interested in joining the Poetry Crusade of Awesome (a.k.a. posting poetry in public spaces), and also because these haiku are so beautiful that I had to share:
Great Books in Haiku
From David M. Bader’s Haiku U
"What have I become?"
Uncertain, Gregor Samsa
put out some feelers.
Grim, gray New England
all adulterers receive
free monogramming.
Sing, Goddess, of how
brooding Achilles’ mood swings
caused him to act out.

entwashian: Star Wars, as told by someone who's never seen it. HILARIOUS.

silksieve: Strange Maps. It is AN ENTIRE BLOG OF STRANGE MAPS.
A few of my favorites from there: The Atlas of True Names, which sounds like it should be useful for casting spells, but is in fact a map of Great Britain - sorry, I mean Great Land of the Tattooed - with everything labeled with the original meaning of the name.
The Semicolonial State of San Seriffe, about an island that doesn't exist. I so want to set a story there now, for my collection of "Stories about Places that Could Almost Have Existed." I suspect there would be copyright issues.
Elleore, a Kingdom 12 Minutes Ahead of Copenhagen". another one for the story collection, except it actually exists so there wouldn't be any copyright issues.
But really the whole site is fabulous.

Date: 2009-01-18 04:37 pm (UTC)I bet the local kids would have had a field day trotting up its slopes to throw away evil rings. It's almost like Mount Doom, after all...

Date: 2009-01-18 04:57 pm (UTC)Maybe I could put little maps in public places, as well as poetry, to inspire people to visit odd, out of the way places.

Date: 2009-01-18 07:07 pm (UTC)It might be good to accompany the maps with photos, though, so they know why they ought to visit. As awesome as a name like Mount Malicious is, I think scenic views are more inspiring than maps.
