AoS season finale
May. 12th, 2015 10:30 pmGod, this season finale is stressing me out so much. And not in a good "This is so suspenseful!" kind of way, but in a "Wait, what do you mean we're at the season finale, there is no way the season is ready for a finale. Are you going to kill someone just to make an Impact? Please don't kill someone for Impact. Please especially don't kill everyone for impact."
Also they are sailing all my least favorite ships. Ugh.
ETA: They didn't kill everyone, but HOLY SHIT that was not what I wanted out of this season finale. Will write more later, right now I ought to be asleep, but HOLY MOLY.

Date: 2015-05-13 03:43 am (UTC)I'm worried, but I'll be ok. And if Fitz/Simmons sails I'll be happy, I am A Fan of Simple Tastes.
I'll be checking in to yell about everything once it comes around on the Hulu.

Date: 2015-05-14 02:09 am (UTC)FitzSimmons, however, is not going anywhere, on account of Simmons being EATEN BY AN ALIEN ARTIFACT.
And I have no strong feelings about May/May's ex-husband as a ship, and presumably she would enjoy a vacation, but I hope this does not become an excuse for her not to be on the show much next season.
I was also not psyched by the way they pinned all of Cal's crimes on Jiaying. I mean, sure, clearly she was a bad influence on him, but he KILLED AN ENTIRE VILLAGE (and then gallivanted off apparently killing more people in the years he spent without her while he looked for Skye). He clearly has plenty of his own inner darkness.

Date: 2015-05-15 04:23 am (UTC)You were very right about my mixed feelings. SO RIGHT.
But I loved everything about Cal and Jiaying, right up to the epilogue where Cal was MIND WIPED, COME ON, SHOW D:< D:< D:< . . . They are both such beautiful monsters, and no, I don't buy for a second Coulson's story about how Jiaying Made Him Do It and Cal's only sin was Loving Not Wisely But Too Well, though I can certainly believe that Cal believed it.
I hope it doesn't mean she's leaving the show, but I kind of choked up a little, in a good way, at May packing, and how much I want her to be able to get some distance from SHIELD for a second and just be a human being for a while.
There was too much nauseating torture and TOO MUCH WARD but in the end I think I loved more than I hated. Skye using the last of her energy to push the plane off the aircraft carrier! (even if it backfires later)! Cal chewing every piece of scenery in sight! Fitz and Simmons being clumsy and awkward and adorable! (can't help it; going down with this ship :\)
I don't care one way or the other about Bobbi/Hunter. Bobbi is ALIVE and that is the important thing. And Skye is beautiful and strong and kind, and her kindness is her strength, just like everyone kept saying way back at the beginning, before anyone knew why.
I really, really hope Simmons isn't being Yarred off the show. :( And that neck-tattoo guy should be the new antagonist instead of Ward. He's perfect as the new leader of Hydra, because he already has another head underneath his head! I DO NOT LIKE WARD.
Oh, Agents of SHIELD. What have you done to me, you beautiful disaster?

Date: 2015-05-15 12:41 pm (UTC)I also don't buy for a second that Cal would ever agree to forget about Daisy. He would live in a cell on bread and water if it meant she would come visit him sometimes. So the mindwiping thing left a bad taste in my mouth. (Although probably it would have even if I could believe that he had agreed. Seriously, Coulson? If the other mind-wiping storylines we've seen are any guide, mind-wiping is both evil and ineffective.)
I'm hoping that May is going on a nice long vacation, from which she will return refreshed and rejuvenated when the next season starts up. Maybe she will smile occasionally and everyone (except Coulson) will be totally surprised by it at first, but then they'll get used to the new smiling May?
Also, I'm just going to kind of ignore the last ten seconds of the episode until the next season starts up. Everything is fine! Simmons did not get eaten by an alien artifact!!!!
I am holding out hope that they're hanging onto Ward just long enough for every single member of the Bus team to get a chance to try to kill him, and then they will all team up and do away with him as a group effort. But then, I also held out hope that Kara was going to have her own storyline rather than being a mere accessory to Ward's, so maybe not. >:(

Date: 2015-05-15 04:26 pm (UTC)This is what I expected to happen, so the mindwipe reveal was a shock! I guess they thought Cal was just too dangerous to go to regular prison? but come ON. MINDWIPING IS DANGEROUS. :O
May is such an icon of the show that it's hard to imagine they would write her out, unless Ming-Na Wen wanted to leave.
I agree about Kara. She was interesting! If anyone was going to die tragically in anyone else's arms in this scenario, it should have been Ward >:( Then Kara could get a nice chewy revenge-recovery arc with plenty of angst. OH WELL :(

Date: 2015-05-15 09:13 pm (UTC)Also, I like the idea of Ward dying tragically in Kara's arms, thus kickstarting her epic revenge-recovery arc, in which she eventually realizes that Ward was WRONG and revenge and recovery are actually different things. This is sad and stressful for her but eventually she works through it. And apologizes to Bobbi and stuff.
