OH JIA YING NO. That is not a winning move!

I had other thoughts about last night's episode, but they were pretty much pushed out of my mind by, um, that.

I'm going to watch it tonight! I hope!

NOT SURE WHAT THE POINT OF THIS COMMENT IS.

To remind you to come back and discuss the episode with me once you've seen it, obviously!

I kind of love it? We haven't had a female big bad in the MCU yet and if that's what going on, I am HERE. FOR. IT.

I am hoping that's where they're going, and not GIANT MASSACRE. It could swing either way.

I also kind of loved Raina's failed power grab. She really did have the prophecy she said she did, but she moved too quickly to set herself up as the leader and spooked everyone. She should have nominated someone else and made herself slowly indispensable...

Maybe she will take this lesson to heart and set herself up as Jia Ying's faithful lieutenant in the upcoming war. Her prophecies could be very useful in helping put together battle plans, and if something happened to Jia Ying (or "happened," perhaps, after a suitable length of time), she would be in the perfect position to assume command.

Giant Massacre seems like it would sort of dead-end the SHIELD and Inhumans storylines, which doesn't appear to be Marvel's endgame.

That's the thing; I don't think it was an attempt at a power grab per se. I mean, I 100% believe that Raina would try to take over in a permanent way at some point, but if this were an actual power grab, I don't think she'd have left it so much to chance. (Like, she only gets one shot at her 'vision' not turning out as predicted, so I don't see her playing that card so soon.)

I sort of interpreted it as a foil to Cal's storyline, like, we're supposed to believe that he is genuinely turning himself in for the benefit of the Inhumans because he's supposedly been acting in what he believed to be Daisy's best interests all along... but he turned it into a bluff by taking the Mr. Hyde potion before surrendering himself. Meanwhile, we're supposed to believe that Raina is attempting to architecture a coup, but the one time she was being genuine when crying wolf, no one believed her.

The series has drawn a lot of parallels between Raina & Skye, and I'd actually like to see them in a reluctant team-up again at some point.

No, I do think she had a genuine vision, and that's why she's so distressed when they won't listen. But she's using her genuine vision to attempt a coup. It's rather elegant.

Unfortunately, by coming right out and suggesting herself as the emissary in Jia Ying's place, she accidentally played into their concerns about her. So they don't listen at all. Disaster strikes. Perhaps that will force Raina and Skye to work together? I agree that could be a lot of fun as a storyline.

Speaking of working together, I wonder if Cal and Jia Ying hatched a scheme after he offered to let her turn him in: she turns him in with the understanding that he'll take the potion and give the Inhumans a better chance by fucking up some SHIELD agents on the inside.

MY GOODNESS WHAT A LOT OF BAD DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.

Though I have to give Gonzalez some credit? I was really expecting his "insurance" to be some kind of bomb or other trap, but it was something nice! Manipulative, but nice. I'm going to miss Edward James Olmos :(

I appreciate Jia Ying's stone-coldness, but I can't see any of this ending well. And I can't tell you how much I want Ward to go away. And Bobbi gets more beautiful with every episode (do I say that every episode? I think I do. STILL TRUE THOUGH) and uggggggggghhhhhh poor Skye :(

I don't approve of murder, but in principle I'm on Jia Ying's side -- the Inhumans want to be left alone, and it would be better to leave them alone until one of them turns supervillain -- or better, make a voluntary agreement that Afterlife will share information in the event that one of them does cause trouble. Pre-emptive surveillance is bound to rub anyone the wrong way.

Like entwashian, I 100% approve of a female Magneto tearing shit up for mutant Inhuman justice. As a narrative element, I mean, not RIGHT THIS SECOND, Jia Ying, JEEZ >:(

I expected Gonzalez's insurance to be something awful too! And instead it turned out to be not even slightly deadly. In fact, he seemed almost reasonable during that chat. If only he could have let go of the whole "we must index you! We must!" thing, maybe it wouldn't have ended with murder.

This is why putting two important leaders in a room all alone together is a bad idea. Although that kind of secrecy is really a very SHIELD bad idea.

Skye is SO SCREWED. Everyone she loves is going to be trying to kill each other! UGH SKYE.

And I am so worried for Bobbi. So I guess she was present/possibly aided in Agent 33's brainwashing, and that's why Agent 33 wants revenge? Oh Bobbi, if only you had owned up to that and apologized, maybe none of this needed to happen...

I want Ward gone too, but it is becoming increasingly clear that he will never be gone. Like a bad penny, he is always going to turn up.
