As for the plot, didn't they mention that t-word once before? While I'm blanking on it this moment, I know the word sounded familiar last night. And given this is a Whedon-based show (or rather, the team that did a lot of Dollhouse, minus Joss himself), I wouldn't be surprised if there was a big secret the audience didn't know. Also, it might tie into Ultron which would then be in keeping with Shield's reaction to Cap 2 which viewers had no idea about prior. So I wouldn't be surprised if option 1 is the case. I'm with you on how boring it would be if its some plant by other Shield. Plus, I really don't want to hate any of other Shield (esp Bobbi).
