Ring around the Moon
Jan. 10th, 2009 05:24 pmItem the first: Did anyone else see the ring around the moon last night? It's caused by moonlight diffracting in ice crystals in cirrus clouds, and it looks like a portent - I'd say of good things, although I'm not sure what.

***
Item the second: Does anyone know anything about the various different cuts of Blade Runner? Netflix has the theatrical release, the director's cut, and the final cut. Presumably one of these is better than the others, but I have no idea which.
***
Item the third: My school demands two essays for each study abroad program I apply to. I have written The Worst Essays Ever in the History of the Universe and I'm not even done yet. :(
***
ETA: How could I forget this? It's my brother's birthday. Happy Birthday, Chuck!

Date: 2009-01-11 08:28 am (UTC)Original version: bit crap. Studio came in to insist on a happier ending and to add voiceover to a lot of it.
Director's Cut: What Ridley Scott intended to release. It's my favourite, but it's got several continuity errors and a bit of dodgy editting because it was released in a bit of a rush. A group of fans stumbled across it by accident, and the demand skyrocketed. The progenitor of all those other Directors Cuts other movies have.
Final Cut: Not done by Ridley Scott, which is weird. Fixes some of the continuity errors, worsens others, CGIs over a lot of the original effects (which made me very indignant). Not a lot to choose between it and the Director's Cut except for slightly tighted editting.
There's a couple of other cuts out there to, but they tend to only turn up in DVD boxsets.
