Limited amnesia! He disappears for two months, and when he comes back he doesn't remember anything that happened: he thinks he just crashed his car on the way to the wedding a few hours ago. So it's not like he wakes up, sees Becket, and is all "Hey pretty lady, what's your name? Let's go back to our totally annoying season one dynamic!"
But the abduction/amnesia angle means that even the standalone episodes are now infested with driblets of conspiracy plot. It's sneaking in everywhere!
