Agents of SHIELD

osprey_archerAnyone else watching season 2 of Agents of SHIELD? I saw the first episode! Mostly I spent it figuring out who was who, although I've read enough about the show that I got most of them slotted into place eventually. And I had FEELINGS, mostly about Fitz & Simmons.
Who decided that it was a good idea to leave Fitz in his lab surrounded by terrifying deadly objects while he is having hallucinatory conversations with his missing lab partner? (Speaking of the lab partner, I was promised great things about Simmons and her crazy shippability with everyone, and I am super sad that she's gone walkabout. Come back!) Either he is brain damaged or he's in the middle of a mental breakdown (or both! Embrace the power of and!), but either way, he is probably going to accidentally make himself a supervillain. HOW DOES THAT SEEM LIKE A GOOD IDEA, COULSON?
My impression is that I am supposed to find Coulson slightly creepy and off-putting this season. If this is true, they are doing a bang-up job! If this is not true and we're supposed to think he's heroic, well then. They need to work on that.
My other thought, based on their treatment of Fitz, is that if Steve finds Bucky pretty quickly - I'm fairly sure this won't happen in canon, because clearly that's a dramatic scene they'll want to save for a movie, but LET'S SPECULATE ANYWAY - and Bucky is anything close to functional, then SHIELD will probably not bother with therapy. Or doctors. Shooting Hydra agents is kind of like therapy, right? Steve, you'll make sure he keeps shooting the people we want him to shoot? YES, STEVE, LIKE A HANDLER. GET OVER IT, WE ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR VERY EXISTENCE AGAINST THE MOST EVIL EVIL THAT THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN.
However, my feelings about powerful secret organizations that are accountable to no one may be coloring my reading of this situation, because my feeling is that these organizations are always up to know good.
