Happy Fourth of July, fellow Americans! I have been to a Fourth of July party! I taken Jell-O shots and informed my fellow partygoers of my literary endeavors! Possibly I should walk around with papers containing the title of my magnum opus in my pockets, so I can hand them out to anyone who expresses an interest.

Also there was a magic show and fireworks! I enjoyed the fireworks very much. They had some golden ones that looked like dandelions, complete with puffing up at the end to look like dandelion clocks, which where especially delightful.

One of the guests was a hairdresser, and my hair so inspired her that she created this:



Chelsea calls it the Game of Thrones look. I am adding "I don't live in Westeros!" to my list of reasons to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Not living in Westeros is pretty much the best reason to celebrate the 4th. There is almost 0% chance of any of your loved ones being beheaded and displayed on a spike. And that's gotta feel good.

Exactly! Any day without heads displayed on pikes is a good day. Or at least a better day than it could have been.

It did! I actually had some trouble finding the bobby pin she used, because she pinned it in so well.

Would you be interested in beta-reading the Downton Abbey story I mentioned in an earlier entry? It won't be terribly long, and I'm hoping to have a draft later this week.

Very much so! But I'll be going to Readercon (well, first my dad's house, then Readercon) and may have limited connectivity (due to not having a laptop), so I might not be able to get back to you until Monday-Tuesday or so. Would that be okay?

That would be fine! I may not even have a draft until next weekend; my cover artist got back to me (with a GLORIOUS cover!), so I'll be busy launching The Italian Soda Summer this week.
