Oh LJ, I have so much to tell you!! For I have returned from my Canadian sojourn! In which sojourn I ate walleye and bass and a lake trout, the second lake trout that my dad caught in his life, for normally they hide in the watery depths. It was delicious.

Speaking of fish stories! The night before last I caught a bass, and while I was reeling it in, a gigantic northern pike latched onto the bass and attempted to yank it from my hook to devour it. I pulled left, I pulled right, I reeled, I yanked my pole toward the boat - and at last the northern pike let go! We took the bass off the hook - still surprisingly intact after the onslaught - and tossed it as far away as we could, so it would have a fighting chance. Yes! I am the Bass Rescuer! How many fishermen do you know you can say that?

Other things that occurred: raspberry picking, blueberry picking, blueberry pancakes, PICTOGRAPHS, and many many photos. There may be an entire photo post of Interesting Mushrooms of the North. You have been warned!

I also read the entirety of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I am pretty sure that it is a book that Edward Cullen spent far too much of his unlife pondering.

And finally! Via [livejournal.com profile] goldenusagi: Emma to Get the Lizzie Bennet Diaries Treatment with Web Series Emma Approved. SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS, YOU GUYS.

I breathlessly await the photojournalism of Northern Mushrooms As Seen In The Wild.

I wish they'd decided to do something fun with Mansfield Park. Fanny is overdue for some updating. But of course I'll watch/read the Emma.

Those wild mushrooms, man, they are pretty exciting.

I am waiting breathlessly for them to announce the start date for Emma. The anticipation is killing me!

That's an amazing fishing story! Wow! Two fish on one line at the same time! This reminds me of when I first went fishing with my Dad (in Oregon I think) years ago and I ended up catching 7 rainbow trout! The people fishing next to us remained mystified as to how I was catching so many fish when they hadn't caught any at all. It was quite amusing. :) I ended up catching a huge catfish as well, but ended up letting it go. Good times! :)

I also remember rather fondly picking wild blackberries with my sister and father in Oregon -- I still think they taste the best right off the branch (store-bought blackberries never compare unfortunately). <3

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip to Canada! :) And you've probably already seen the LJ messages I sent, but guess what?! I managed to find three pen pals for Caitlin! Yay! :D

Seven rainbow trout! That's a ton! You must have had a magic lure. Did you eat any of them?

And wild berries are the best. Wild blueberries are so tiny that it's hard to pick enough, but they are SO delicious - we made blueberry pancakes with them and they were amazing.

And I've let Caitlin know about the possible penpals - I think she's a bit overwhelmed by having three possibilities - I'll let you know when she asks me for the contact information!

You know....I can't remember if we ate any of them or not. I don't think we did (we kept them too long and they went bad before we could I think) but it was still awesome to know that I had a hidden talent for fishing. :)

That's awesome that you made such fresh blueberry pancakes -- yummmm! :D It reminds me of the time when I was on a spiritual retreat in North Carolina with a group of women and Sheri made a pie with fresh and delicious huckleberries that she hand-picked....soooooo yummy! <3

Alrighty! Look forward to her response! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Canada! I just got back from a mini-trip to Georgian Bay. It was a good adventure, though we didn't attempt anything nearly as serious when it came to wilderness activities as fishing or berry-picking!

That's fantastic news about 'Emma.' That sounds like a sure win!
