You guys you guys, it is like the internet created a belated birthday present just for me, there is a brainstorming post for the Exchange at Fic Corner, which is a fic exchange for children’s and YA books, IT IS LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE.

A Little Princess! Crown Duel! Ella Enchanted! (SOMEONE LISTED THE CHANGELING. I would be terrified to write fic for it but YAY, OTHER PEOPLE LOVE IT, it is not just me and [livejournal.com profile] asakiyume!) Monica Furlong’s Juniper! And Code Name Verity and the Montmaray Journals and - ! So many books that I am so excited that other people remember and love and want fic for!

Also, a lot of people have expressed interest in American Girl fic - particularly Felicity and Samantha, of course, although a smattering of others. Hooray hooray! This feeds my vague and nascent idea to someday run an American Girl fic exchange! But that would require rising above my usual slothfulness and the fact that I have the organizational ability of a yak.

IN ANY CASE, in the short term my main concern is winnowing my nominations down to a reasonable list - and deciding what to ask for! SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.

Someone listed The Changeling!! If you get over your terror, maybe you could write for them. Oh I hope someone will. Maybe it could be a story about Josie. I liked Josie; I liked that Ivy and Martha incorporated her into their games.

I could see it! Josie's point of view on something that happens? Or perhaps now that Ivy is out of town, Martha makes good on her promise to look after Josie a little and they become friends?

OR. Epistolary fic between Ivy and Martha during Ivy's time learning to dance in New York!

Yes epistolary fic while Ivy's in New York!

Did we talk about this: that thanks to that book I started signing my letters LOVE-LOVE-LOVE?

... I'm also really curious about Ivy's family, frankly. What's the story of the big house? Her mom is apparently some sort of alcoholic. What's the story with the dad? The aunt obviously has it together.

Oh man, I loved that book so much. It's the only book I know that really portrayed how it is to live/play imaginary games, and how they transform as you get older. ... And that's not the half of why I like it; it's just what popped into my head.

That is a great way to sign letters!

And yes, there are a lot of questions about Ivy's family. I think her mother inherited the house, and I have the vague idea that maybe the dad married her for it...so maybe her loveless but very fertile marriage drove her to alcoholism?

And I loved Aunt Evelyn! Ivy's adventures at Aunt Evelyn's also have enormous potential. There's one letter Ivy sends about an egg they found, commenting that they think it will hatch into something strange, but Martha never does find out if it did...

I remember that! Yes, that would be perfect! Imagine letters about the growth of the little gryphon, or what-have-you!
