My new chair

The photo features the chair sitting on my parent's front porch, on the grounds that being outside and surrounded by flowers makes everything prettier.
The chair is new to me, but it's actually very old: it belonged to my great-great aunt Dale, who lived in Indianapolis as a pianist until she had to go back to the family farm to care for my orphaned grandmother. (It occurs to me that my grandmother's childhood sounds like something out of an Anne of Green Gables-ish novel: "Orphaned at ten, young Dorothy Montgomery was brought up by her aunt and uncle (brother and sister, not married) until the love of her life climbed through her window at work...")
When my mother was young, she claimed the chair for herself whenever she visited Aunt Dale's; and when I was young, the chair was my own especial property whenever we visited Grandma and Grandpa's. The low back makes it perfect for a child.
And now it has passed onto me - and I have enough chairs to have a proper tea party!
